Hunter Valley Wine Country – Gourmet Food and Lights

DAY 1: (L or AT, D) CHEESE MASTER CLASS, SHOPPING & CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DISPLAY
Thursday 16 December 2021

Without a doubt, the Hunter Valley is one of those places that continues to improve its reputation of being one of the most visited areas in NSW. Not only does it produce award winning wines, olives and cheese and chocolate, but it is also home to the Hunter Valley Christmas Lights Spectacular, which showcases over 2 million glimmering lights. There is always something new to experience when you stay in the Hunter Valley and this trip will surely tick off some of those first time experiences.

Our first day begins with our very own Master Cheese, Yoghurt and Labna making cooking class. During the class, you will be able to sample the different products and enjoy a beautiful lunch or afternoon tea overlooking the vineyard and Brokenback Mountain. This of course, is all matched with tastings of the properties very own wine called ‘Eclectic wines’. Plenty of free time can be had at Pokolbin Village where you can peruse in many of the little boutique stores, lolly shop or do some more wine tasting at the cellar door.

Alternatively you can visit the Gardens by day light to admire the 4 ½ acres of beautiful garden displays. Our accommodation tonight will be at Harrigan’s Irish Pub, where you will arrive with time to have a dip in the pool before freshening up for our scrumptious 2-course dinner at Harrigan’s Irish Pub. Harrigan’s is positioned within walking distance from the Christmas lights for those that feel like an evening walk or you can take the coach, which will drop you to the entry of the Lights display just before nightfall. Every year the display gets bigger and better and is for everyone young and old.

Accommodation: Harrigan’s Hunter Valley, Pokolbin
Dinner at Harrigan’s Irish Pub | lunch/afternoon tea included in the cheese making class.

DAY 2: (B, MT) HOT AIR BALLOON ADVENTURE (additional cost $280pp)
SABOR DESSERT ROOMS, HUNTER OLIVE CENTRE
Friday 17 December 2021

If you have always wanted to experience the awe of flying in a hot air balloon, Tuncurry Coach Tours are adding this special treat in to your Hunter Valley visit. This is an optional extra but something we are sure you will never forget. For those of you that wish to participate, our morning will start very early before daybreak as we make our way to the grounds of Petersons House ready to see the Hunter Valley from a birds eye view in our very own Hot Air Balloon. As the sun begins to rise we take in the magically, breathtaking views across the hunter region. Back on land, we join for a Champagne breakfast on the deck of the stunning Petersons restaurant.

If a sleep in is more your thing, than breakfast will be served at your leisure at the hotel. Now, because we are enjoying all things nice, our time showcasing the Hunter will not end – just yet! After checking out of our hotel, we will start on a sweet note with a morning tea experience that will have you reminiscing about. We are heading to the Sabor Dessert Rooms, where you will be served your very own tasting plate of photographic, ‘mind blowing’ desserts, all accompanied with your choice of tea, coffee or dessert wine. From there we will head to the Pokolbin Estate Vineyard and Hunter Olive Centre where we will take part in a gourmet food tasting including Dukkah, olives, jams and chutneys and lastly a cheese and wine paddle in the cellar door. We will then begin our journey home, once again having indulged in beautiful food, amazing company, learnt a new skill and possibly witnessing a magical sunrise like never before.
