Moreton Bay Islands Tour

DAY 1: (lD) TUNCURRY TO BRISBANE – Tuesday 19th November 2019

Greeting our fellow travellers, soon to be friends, we hit the road with anticipation for our holiday ahead. Watching the scenery stream by we arrive into New Italy for a light healthy lunch. After taking the opportunity to stretch our legs, we then continue along the coast to Brisbane, arriving in time for dinner and a good night’s rest.

DAY 2: (BLD) EXPLORING BRIBIE ISLAND – Wednesday 20th November 2019

Bribie Island is the smallest and most northerly of Moreton Bay’s three major sand islands and what better way to explore the island than by its beautiful waterway, Pumicestone Passage. Aboard Ferryman Cruises venture into the heart of this Passage, steeped in history and natural beauty. Cruising by the mangroves, salt marshes and seagrass meadows we keep an eye out for the dugongs, turtles and sea birds that inhabit this waterway. With morning tea and lunch on board, can we think of any better way to kick start our holiday! Back on dry land, we return to our hotel to relax and freshen up before dinner.

DAY 3: (BLD) STRADBROKE ISLAND ADVENTURE – Thursday 21st November 2019

Ferrying across to ‘Straddie’ this morning, we reach the sandy island and begin exploring this once convict outstation. At the Stradbroke Island Historical Museum, you’ll uncover the pioneering past of the Island before being introduced to its significant Aboriginal history. Listening to the passion of our cultural officer as they unveil their connections and stories to this island, you will discover everything from bush medicines, hunting tools to fire making. Enjoy lunch at the well positioned Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel before feasting your eyes upon a stunning long beach, at the North Gorge Walk. Spending time here to soak up this natural wonder, you may also be lucky enough to encounter some of the native wildlife. After a wonderful and enlightening day, we farewell our guide and board the ferry to return to our Brisbane hotel.

DAY 4: (BLD) BRISBANE TO TANGALOOMA ISLAND – Friday 22nd November 2019

Feeling the wind in our hair we sail across Moreton Bay to Tangalooma Island Resort, where we are greeted by the attentive staff before our lovely lunch. Taking the Sightseeing and Fish Feeding Cruise out to beautiful Tangalooma Wrecks, we then relax with time to explore the resort facilities before meeting on the beach. Keeping our eyes peeled for movement over the water, we wait in eagerness for a chance to meet some playful locals. For each night a pod of wild bottlenose dolphins arrives at these shores to greet the island’s guests. Participate in a unique experience by hand feeding these beautiful oceanic creatures! After our fabulous introduction to the island we find ourselves sharing our stories over dinner before settling in for the night.

DAY 5: (BLD) EXPLORING MORETON ISLAND – Saturday 23rd November 2019

This morning we discover the highlights of Moreton Island. Meet the Northern Safari Tour guide and journey along the Western Beaches on the bay side of the island. Explore North Point before heading to the oldest lighthouse in Queensland at Cape Moreton. Head along Eastern Beach before returning to the resort in time for lunch. You’ll then have the afternoon free to enjoy the facilities and activities offered by the resort (own cost). Why not attend the dolphin behaviour lecture at the Eco Centre or witness the Kookaburra feeding? There are only a few locations on the east coast of Australia where you can watch the sun set over the water and Tangalooma is one of them. Aboard Tangalooma Sunset Cruise relax into the evening while cruising the stunning waters of Moreton Bay. Soaking up the views as the sun kisses the horizon, you’ll have your camera’s ready to capture your final night on the island. Back on dry land enjoy dinner at the resort while, no doubt, comparing your sunset memories.

DAY 6: (BLD) MORETON ISLAND TO GRAFTON – Sunday 24th November 2019

Farewell this beautiful island and head back to the mainland to begin your journey home. Along the way, we make a stop at the seaside town of Ballina. Did you know that Tea Tree Oil is native only to Australia? At the Thursday Plantation, we enjoy lunch and a chance to uncover the secrets of this natural yet powerful antiseptic plant. We now sit back and relax in our comfortable seats to watch the scenery as it rolls by before arriving into Grafton, where we settle into our hotel for the evening.

DAY 7: (BL) HOMEWARD BOUND – Monday 25th November 2019

After a wonderful holiday spent leaping from island to island, discovering white sandy beaches, inquisitive dolphins and unique island history, we now depart for our last day on tour. Chatting amongst ourselves, we journey down the coast to Ricardoes Tomatoes and Strawberries which is sure to be an interesting stop. The greenhouses boast five varieties of hydroponic strawberries and eight varieties of tomatoes. After an enjoyable lunch, you’ll have the chance to stock up at their shop before heading to Tuncurry, arriving home with a suitcase full of memories to share with friends and loved ones.

A non-refundable deposit of  $100.00 per person at time of booking. Balance due by 19th October 2019.

  • 60 days or more $50.00 per person
  • 30-59 days 20% of fare
  • 14-29 days 50% of fare
  • 6-13 days 75% of fare
  • Note: less than 6 days there is no refund
