Treasures of Tasmania


Welcome to our summer tour to Tasmania. This morning we will do our pick ups and begin to make our way toward Sydney for this afternoons flight. We will stop for a comfort stop near Heatherbrae and lunch on the way down. Boarding our flight in Sydney we begin our journey to Tasmania. Arriving at Launceston we meet our transfer and head to our hotel and settle in for the next 3 nights.

Joining Tamar River Cruises, we explore the magical river and Cataract Gorge onboard the Tamar Odyssey. Be captivated by the captains interesting commentary as we cruise by Tamar Island, wildlife, historical properties and of course the spectacular Cataract Gorge. With morning tea on board, it’s a fantastic way to uncover the regions natural beauty. Back on dry land we head to the James Boags Brewery to enjoy a shared platter lunch before touring the brewery and of course tasting their crisp beverages. Finish the day at leisure in Cataract Gorge Reserve, a rare natural phenomenon in central Launceston. The unique Gorge, surrounded by cliffs, bushland and beautiful gardens can be explored by land or by the world’s longest single span chairlift.

This morning enjoy the clean air and open spaces of Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm. Watch the farm in action on a tour of the flower shed and distillery. Tasting hints of lavender in lovely samples, you’ll then have time to browse their extensive gift shop. Next, visit Beaconsfield Gold Mine and Heritage Museum, a place where you can lose yourself within its history. Then in the heart of the Tamar Valley and on the banks of the Tamar River we visit Tamar Ridge Cellar Door to discover the secrets behind their wines with a tasting or two. Thanking our hosts, we then journey to Grindelwald, a village inspired by the alpine style architecture of Switzerland. We have some time to enjoy its magnificent setting amid lakes and mountain views before returning to Launceston.

This morning we travel onwards to the pretty town of Deloraine. Here you’ll witness a light and sound show presentation at Yarns: Artwork in Silk. Then at Truffles of Australia we’ll learn about the truffle and meet highly prized truffle hunting dogs and their handlers. There will also be time to purchase some of their products before continuing to Ashgrove Cheese Factory. Enjoy lunch before discovering the range of award-winning cheeses from English county cheeses to a series of uniquely flavoured cheeses…
